Close to 400 girls representing 23 city-wide National Capital Amateur Football Association (NCAFA) Girl’s Touch Football teams competed Saturday at Deevy Pines Park, Kanata and what a great day it was. The weather was ideal for a full day of competition for this 1st Annual Girl’s Touch Football NCAFA event.
Rodney Moors, NCAFA Director of Non-Contact Football, organized the tournament. “We wanted to host an event to raise the visibility of our sport in the community while having a great day of girl’s touch football. The sport continues to grow and I attribute that to the fact that the sport combines running, catching and throwing more than any other. It’s a great sport for conditioning, team spirit and athleticism. We will definitely put this event on our annual NCAFA girl’s touch football schedule”, states Rodney Moors.
Rodney Moors, a teacher at Bell High School, is also the Director of Non-Contact Football for the Bell Warriors Football Club. Since 1955, the Bell Warriors Football Club has offered football programs for boys and girls ages 8-16 in the communities of Britannia, Bayshore, Bells Corners, Richmond, Munster and Stittsville. Tryouts are just under way for the Bell Warriors Tackle Football program.
