Inaugural Mosquito 9v9 season crowns WARRIORS!

NCAFA Championship week is always an exciting time of the year with the largest amateur football association showcasing the best-of-the best 8 through 18 year olds from Eastern Ontario and now Western Quebec.  Our Bantam team were hindered with some untimely injuries.  They battled hard in their B-Cup semi losing in a very tight finish to the Gloucester South Raiders 14.12.  Our very young inexperienced Pee Wee team continued to gel and improve as the season went on.  They saw themselves earn a spot vs the Gatineau Vikings in the C-Cup Championship losing in the final minute 26-22 in a heart breaker.  The Warriors Tykes 6v6 also saw themselves in their C-Cup Championship and in the last 30 seconds of the game, they gave up an untimely TD to the South Ottawa Mustangs which gave the Mustangs a 38-34 win.

Our Mosquito team ended up playing on A-Cup Sunday vs the #1 ranked Bel-Air Lions.  They had faced the Lions twice during the regular season and lost both games.   On that chilly Sunday morning however, our relentless Warriors Mosquitos were not to be denied.  This was an inaugural 9v9 format this year which will continue going forward on the basis of this year’s successful launch.  The Lions played our Warriors tough but in the end, it was not enough and our Warriors were lifting the A-Cup Championship trophy!!!

CONGRATULATIONS to Coach Pat Kilmartin who laid the foundation for the big win and to Head Coach Keith Stuart, DC Coach Jon Landon and all of our volunteers, parents and awesome players!!!

2018 Season Comes to Exciting End

After 3 months of hard work, our four tackle teams competed for the NCAFA championships.  Our Tykes battled basically to the last play of the game in the B-Cup Semi-Finals but came up just a little short with a 18-14 loss to the Kanata Knights which went on to be the B-Cup Champions.  Coach Brian Patterson continued to run our Tyke program as he had for the past 15 years.  He is a true gem that we are lucky to have volunteering for our Club.

Our Tyke Defensive Coordinator Jesse Graham gathers up the D to call their next play.

Our Mosquito squad, led by head coach Pat Kilmartin, were in a building year this year.  As the season progressed however, the Mosquito team continued to get better and better and ultimately, they became the Sullivan Cup C-Cup Champions with a convincing win over the Bel-Air LIons 42-18.   Congratulations!

The 2018 NCAFA Sullivan C-Cup Champions – The Bell Warriors!

Our Pee Wee team who finished the regular season with a solid 6-2 record, went on to win their A-Cup Quarter-Final convincingly 59-8 against the Bel-Air Lions.  Head Coach Paul Gowans had his team primed and ready for the A-Cup Semi-Finals and they beat out our Nepean neighbours the Myers Riders in a tough-fought battle 14-2.  This led to a birth in the City Championship against the Cumberland Panthers.  We scored early to put us up 7-0  but ultimately fell 28-7.  Getting this far is quite an accomplishment and our young Warriors deserve a lot of credit for a great season.

The Pee Wee’s on a snow-covered field in the 2018 A-Cup Championship

Our Bantams were short on numbers this year but certainly not on heart or talent.   We finished the season with a respectable 5-3 record and home field advantage in the playoffs.  In the A-Cup Quarter-Finals, we handled the Bel-Air Lions quite handily with a convincing 43-0 win.  Our next opponent, the Kanata Knights, beat our Bantams 23-9 earlier in the season so we knew we’d have a battle.  It was a tough game but our Bantams handled the Kanata Knights in the A-Cup Semi-Finals coming out with a solid 20-6 win to catapult our Bantams into the A-Cup Championship.  Despite going into half-time only down 7 points, we came up a bit short and lost 35-0 to the Cumberland Panthers.  So much was accomplished by this small roster team and they deserve a tonne of credit for what they accomplished.

Our Bantams were all about #TeamFirst. CONGRATULATIONS lads on a great season.

YES! YES! YES! NORSEMEN Win it All!!!!

The Bel-Air Norsemen are the 2015 NCAFA Midget Champions!!!

The Championship was a rematch to avenge the two earlier games that the Norsemen had lost against the Nepean Eagles during the regular season.  Although standout receivers Dilan Parry and Malcolm Turgeon (both Warrior alumni) were unable to play, the Norsemen came committed and were rewarded with an impressive 11-6 win.

The Norsemen controlled the ball throughout the first half but weren’t able to finish until midway through the 2nd quarter on a one yard plunge by Norsemen Captain and QB Quinn Stewart (Warriors alumni) to put the Norsemen up 7-0.  Quinn Stewart went down with an injury soon after the score, and although he was able to stay in the game as a wide receiver, back-up QB Jack Rabb (also a Warrior alumni) had to take the majority of the snaps for the rest of the game.

In the third quarter, wide receiver and place kicker Tyler Gray added insurance with a missed field goal for a point and another successful field goal in the fourth to put the Norsemen up 11-0.  The Eagles were able to get 1 TD in the final minutes of the game on a long bomb but it wasn’t enough against the stifling Norsemen team.  Head Coach Tony Violante said after the game that, “We came to conquer and we dominated in every facet of the game.”

At the Midget level (17-19 year olds), the Warriors partner with our neighbours at Bel-Air to field the Bel-Air Norsemen.  The Norsemen are filled with Warrior alumni and took to the field against the Nepean Eagles (which is a partnership between the Eagles and Myers Riders) Friday, October 30 at 8:15 p.m. at the Nepean Sportsplex.

Big CONGRATS to the Bel-Air Norsemen, head coach Tony Violante and his staff on the impressive win!
